so, as promised, I will now entertain you with a rant on the word "Nerd" what it means to me, how and how not it should be used... and any other tangents that may pop into my mind while writing this. :-)

so I guess the real meaning to this post is, I honestly don't mind if I'm called a nerd. in fact, I call myself a nerd quite often. so world, know, ERIC CHANTRY likes SCI-FI, he enjoys The Lord Of The Rings!, he LOVES MEDIEVAL FOLK ART! well maybe not that.. but I do like nerdy stuff! and I am not ashamed! so mock, pillage, burn my house to the ground, do what you must, I am a nerd through and through.
so Andrew, let us unite, cool nerds of the world meet here! we still love cars, and outdoor activities, and we even make fun of those that choose to spend ALL DAY indoors and play D&D. but we like to be different! commend us for that! commend us for being more than just a mold, commend us for being better than most! because we are! were diverse! and if nothing else, we'll be the rich ones when the wannabe athletes that couldn't hack college football are at home, making 10 bucks an hour working at the Billy bobs hair care and tire center. so ladies, feel free to talk to us, the successful ones. and maybe we'll have the time or inclination to take you out!

Yeah, people thought we were nerds just cause we mingled a little Trek in with the classic cars! Phaooey! I think "nerds" see a little more tunnel vision then most "geeks" and or "dorks". In other words they only see D&D, or Harry Potter. Hurumph! We are far more sophisiticated nerds than they are. I join your cause, UNITE!
P.S.- The picture of the Enterprise created the perfect atomsphere! I was laughing pretty good.
I've never really pictured either one of you as "nerdy", but if you embrace it then who am I to judge?
HEY YOU PUNK! You better start leaving comments on our blogs!
i had this awesome comment all about how we were all nerds growing up, and how we all knew you were a nerd and there was no hiding it. even though im not sure how obvious it was that i was a nerd, i was a hard core nerd. sci fi was a huge one. i love science, not into the nerd strategy games. tried to do it, didnt really work out! anyways, my awesome comment got erased when i clicked the stupid publish button!!! how sucky is that? anyway, good to see you on blogger! nerd it up, old school!
Don't worry, your "old auntie" is a nerd too. And I was interested in Lord of the Rings WAAAAY before the films came out (I used to pretend I was a hobbit when I was little, how nerdy is that?) and heck, I even saw Star Trek the Motion Picture on the big screen! BTW, according to my friend Heidi nerds are more into books; geeks are more into video games, etc. So I think "nerd" has more intellectual cachet.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
